Established in 1957

Bishop Steering Technology Pty Ltd. was founded in the USA in 1957 by Dr Arthur E Bishop. A creative genius, Dr Bishop had both the engineering ingenuity to design breakthrough automotive systems, and also the leadership skills to attract and inspire highly-specialised designers and engineers.

Highly innovative team

In drawing together a multi-national team of engineers and industrial property protection experts, Bishop has introduced numerous innovative automotive steering systems for important international markets. Elements of Bishop’s technology such as its steering valve technology and variable ratio technology have achieved major market penetration in the USA, Europe and Asia since the 1970s.

GMH Gruppe companies

On 15 January 2011 Bishop and its subsidiary companies Bishop Steering Technology Inc. (Indianapolis/USA) and Bishop Steering Technology GmbH (Cologne/Germany) were acquired by GMH Stahlverarbeitung GmbH, a subsidiary of Georgsmarienhütte Holding GmbH. Today, Bishop Steering Technology Pty, together with MVO GmbH Metallverarbeitung Ostalb and MVO USA (formerly Bishop Steering Technology Inc.), belong to the Steering Systems business unit of the internationally-oriented GMH Gruppe.
